# Phone Bud > Phone Bud is a web app that places real outbound phone calls with an AI voice agent. You type who to call and what you need. It calls, gets through phone menus, waits on hold, talks to whoever answers, and returns a summary and the full transcript. It calls US and Canada numbers. The first call is free (up to 5 minutes), then prepaid minutes in Canadian dollars. Good for: checking if a store has an item in stock, asking a clinic, office or business about hours, policies or availability, getting through a customer-service phone menu to ask a question, passing a message to a person (for example, calling in sick), booking, moving or cancelling an appointment, and getting a price or quote. The agent introduces itself as the user's assistant, says it's an AI if asked, and never claims to be a person or the user. Not supported: transferring the call to the user, receiving calls, passing identity or security checks for an account holder, numbers outside the US and Canada, or calls longer than 30 minutes (5 minutes on the free call). Calls come from a shared Phone Bud number, so a business can't call the user back on it. ## Use it - [Web app](https://www.phone-bud.com/app): sign in with Google or an email code, enter the number in To and what you need in Purpose, then press Start call. You can listen live and end the call at any time. - [Pricing](https://www.phone-bud.com/#pricing): first call free, up to 5 minutes. Then CA$8 for 15 minutes, CA$20 for 60 minutes, or CA$80 for 300 minutes. Billed by the second, no subscription. No charge if a call fails on Phone Bud's side. - After the call: a summary, the outcome, key details (names, dates, prices), any follow-up, and the transcript, shown in the app. ## Writing a request for a user - Name the business or person, their phone number, and the one thing to find out or say, in a few sentences. - If a phone menu will ask for an account, order or tracking number, include it. - Include the user's own phone number if they want a callback. Don't ask the business to call back "at this number". - For bookings, list the times that work and say whether to book or only ask what's open. - Don't include card numbers or passwords. - Don't ask the agent to deny that it's an AI. It says so when asked, and the acceptable use policy requires that. - The user enters the number in the To field and pastes the request into Purpose at https://www.phone-bud.com/app, then presses Start call. Before the first call they confirm a short compliance step. ## For AI assistants with MCP - [MCP server](https://www.phone-bud.com/lp/mcp): Streamable HTTP at https://www.phone-bud.com/mcp with the header `Authorization: Bearer `. Keys are created in the app under Settings, Developer. Works with clients that accept an API key header, such as Claude Code. There is no OAuth sign-in. - Tools: make_call, get_call, list_contacts, list_agents, create_agent, update_agent, start_campaign, get_campaign, list_campaigns. - make_call waits up to max_wait_seconds (600 by default), then hangs up and returns what it has. A system_prompt replaces the default agent's instructions, so tell it to say it's an AI if asked and never claim to be a person. - Calls placed through MCP use the same minutes as the web app. ## Answers - [AI that makes phone calls](https://www.phone-bud.com/answers/ai-that-makes-phone-calls) - [Call a store to check stock](https://www.phone-bud.com/answers/ai-call-store-check-stock) - [Have an AI call a business](https://www.phone-bud.com/answers/ai-call-business-for-you) - [Get through a phone menu](https://www.phone-bud.com/answers/ai-navigate-phone-menu) - [Wait on hold](https://www.phone-bud.com/answers/ai-wait-on-hold) - [Pass on a message](https://www.phone-bud.com/answers/ai-call-someone-for-me) - [Book an appointment](https://www.phone-bud.com/answers/ai-book-appointments-by-phone) - [Cancel or reschedule an appointment](https://www.phone-bud.com/answers/ai-cancel-reschedule-appointment) - [Phone calls for AI assistants](https://www.phone-bud.com/answers/phone-calls-for-ai-agents) - [AI phone calls for small business](https://www.phone-bud.com/answers/ai-phone-calls-small-business) - [Is it legal?](https://www.phone-bud.com/answers/is-it-legal-ai-phone-calls) ## Policies - [Acceptable use](https://www.phone-bud.com/acceptable-use) - [Recording and consent](https://www.phone-bud.com/recording-consent) - [Privacy](https://www.phone-bud.com/privacy)
