How can an AI assistant make a phone call?
Two ways. Have the assistant write a request and paste it into Phone Bud, or connect Phone Bud's MCP server so the assistant can call make_call itself. Either way Phone Bud places a real call and returns a transcript and a summary when the call ends.
Make a free callOption 1: paste a request
Ask your assistant to write who to call, their number, and what to find out. At phone-bud.com/app, put the number in To, paste the rest into Purpose, and press Start call. This works with any assistant.
A good request names the business, its phone number, the one thing to find out, and your own number if you want a callback.
Option 2: connect the MCP server
Create an API key in Phone Bud under Settings, Developer. Then add https://www.phone-bud.com/mcp with the header Authorization: Bearer followed by your key. Clients that accept an API key header, such as Claude Code, work. Connectors that need an OAuth sign-in don't.
What the tools do
make_callplaces a call and returns the transcript and notes when it ends.get_callfetches a call again later.start_campaigncalls a list of numbers with the same request.list_contactsandlist_agentsread your saved contacts and agents.
Things to know
make_call waits up to 10 minutes by default, then hangs up and returns what it has. Raise max_wait_seconds for long holds; calls still end at 30 minutes. A system_prompt replaces the default agent's instructions, so tell it to say it's an AI if asked and never claim to be a person.
Billing
Calls use the same minutes as the web app. The first call is free, up to 5 minutes.
